AI use policy

We disclose substantial use of artificial intelligence in every article where it happened. The disclosure sits on the page itself, not hidden in a general document.

What must be disclosed

• Finding and organising sources with AI.
• A draft text produced by AI and edited by a human.
• Translation of the article with AI.
• An illustration created by AI. Such an image is never presented as documentary footage.

What we do not do

• An AI draft is never published automatically: a human editor is always responsible for the publication.
• A language model's answer is not a primary source. Facts and links are verified independently.
• We do not create fictional authors, experts or witnesses.
• Generated video or photography is never presented as footage of a real event.

Placeholder illustrations

Where an image has not been chosen yet, an abstract geometric placeholder with a caption is shown. This is deliberate: an honest placeholder is better than a random photograph that creates a false impression of an event.

Search engines

Using AI is not in itself a breach of Google's rules. What counts as a breach is mass generation of pages without added value. We publish material with editorial work, sources and a responsible editor, and we guarantee ourselves no place in the rankings.
